History of the Club:

The club was founded October 28, 1928.  The first meeting was held at the Polo Public Library with seventeen women and three men present.  At taht time, the club activities included visiting and sharing flowers and clippings from each other's gardens.  members also presented programs on gardens, birds, and related topics.

In 1931, the club adopted a constitution stating that its purpose was for the advancement of gardening among amateurs, development of home grounds, beautification of the city, encourage interest in cooperative gardening, and aid in the protection of forest, wildflowers, and birds. This remains the focus of PWGC with the recent addition of protection of fruit trees and pollinators.

Meetings:

Members meet once a month (every third Friday) either at a member's home or community meeting place for club business.

During the year, our Program committee organizes at least one field trip to an arboretum, garden, or nursery.  Our outings normally include lunch, shopping, and a treat on the way home.  The day is full of adventure and happy memories made.

​In addition, our Program Committee plans our Christmas Luncheon where we enjoy a special meal and participate in a "White Elephant" gift exchange which is always a fun time.
