National Day of Service

Polo Women’s Club, a member of the Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) since 1921, is participating in the inaugural National Day of Service (NDS) spotlighting food insecurity and hunger in the United States.

Club members that volunteer their time and talent to this non-profit organization, are holding a food drive on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 8 am to 12 pm at Polo Fresh Food Market.  All items received will be donated to the Polo Food Pantry that is in need of several specific items, but all products will be accepted.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 34 million people in the U.S. are food insecure, 9 million children are hungry, 53 million people turned to food banks following COVID-19 due to unemployment, and 100% of U.S. Counties have families suffering from food insecurity.

The Polo Women’s Club, whose slogan is Living the Volunteer Spirit, works together selecting projects and programs based on interests and needs in our own community while benefiting from the expertise and support at district, state, regional and national levels of GFWC.

The Club supports the arts in all Polo schools, promoting leadership skills at the high school level, educating the community on the prevention of all forms of domestic violence, and conducting an annual coat drive to provide free items to those in need, along with other projects throughout the year.
